Statement from City Attorney Dennis Herrera supporting students protesting gun violence

Thousands of students nationwide are walking out of their schools to protest gun violence

SAN FRANCISCO (March 14, 2018) — City Attorney Dennis Herrera issued the following statement today in support of the thousands of students nationwide protesting gun violence:

“I couldn’t be prouder of all of the students standing up today to end gun violence. Americans aged 15 to 19 are 82 times more likely to be murdered with a gun than young people in peer countries. That is mindboggling. It is time for this madness to stop. These youth are the future of America. It is time for common-sense gun laws. Weapons of war have no place in our neighborhoods, our workplaces or our schools.
