Lyon was a pioneer and activist in the fight for marriage equality
SAN FRANCISCO (April 9, 2020) — City Attorney Dennis Herrera issued the following statement today after the passing of Phyllis Lyon, a determined pioneer and advocate who helped lead the fight for marriage equality:
I’m deeply saddened at the passing of Phyllis Lyon. She was an icon, a pioneer and a leader. It was the honor of my career to share in a small fraction of her lifetime of activism during the fight for marriage equality. We miss her dearly.
