Expressing pride in former deputy’s accomplishments, City Attorney says ‘people of Sonoma County will be extremely well served by his remarkable skill and dedication’
SAN FRANCISCO (March 15, 2016)—San Francisco City Attorney Dennis Herrera offered congratulations and high praise to outgoing Deputy City Attorney Jerry Threet on his appointment earlier today by the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors as the director of Sonoma County’s Independent Office of Law Enforcement Review and Outreach. The newly established office, known by its acronym IOLERO, was a key recommendation of the county’s Community and Local Law Enforcement Task Force. IOLERO will independently review law enforcement practices, and work to improve transparency and collaborative efforts between the community and county law enforcement. Threet, according to Sonoma County’s news release, was selected from some 40 highly qualified candidates following an extensive candidate selection and interview process.
“I’m incredibly proud of Jerry Threet for all he has accomplished in my office for more than a decade to protect San Francisco’s tenants, neighborhoods and working families, and I congratulate him on a well-deserved professional opportunity to continue making a difference in public service,” said Herrera. “It’s always bittersweet for us to part ways with such widely-admired colleagues, but we are very happy for Jerry and his family, and we know that the people of Sonoma County will be extremely well served by his remarkable skills and dedication.”
Threet, who moved with his family to Sonoma County last year, has spent the last 11 years as a deputy city attorney in Herrera’s office, where he worked in the Neighborhood and Resident Safety Division, on the Affirmative Litigation Task Force, and as general counsel to the San Francisco Sunshine Ordinance Task Force. He previously served as chief of staff to former San Francisco Supervisor Jake McGoldrick, and clerked for the presiding judge of the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. He graduated from the University of Texas with high honors in 1983, and earned his joint degree in Law and Public Policy from the University of Texas in 1988. Threet is married to Seth Ubogy, and they have two daughters, aged 5 and 7. He and his family reside in Sebastopol.
