Herrera ‘incredibly proud’ of Sacino’s achievements in the workers’ compensation field
SAN FRANCISCO (Nov. 30, 2018) — Deputy City Attorney Christine Sacino was recently given the Defense Attorney of the Year Award from the San Francisco Chapter of the California Applicants’ Attorneys Association.
The award, presented on Nov. 16, recognizes top attorneys for their longtime dedication to the practice of workers’ compensation. It is bestowed upon a defense attorney each year as a sign of respect for the professionalism and compassion shown during the litigation process. The San Francisco Chapter of the California Applicants’ Attorneys Association consists of all local applicant attorneys doing business in San Francisco. Their mission is to protect the rights of employees when injured on the job, including the workers compensation benefits to which they are entitled.
“I am incredibly proud of Christine Sacino for this well-deserved honor,” said City Attorney Dennis Herrera. “It speaks volumes that she was recognized for her professionalism and compassion by attorneys that are on the opposing side. During her tenure here, Christine has tried or settled hundreds of cases on behalf of the City. She has singlehandedly saved San Francisco taxpayers millions of dollars. We are fortunate to work with such a talented attorney who is dedicated to public service.”
Sacino is a graduate of UC Hastings College of the Law. She joined the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office in 2001 and has been a part of the Workers’ Compensation Team since then. The team represents all City departments in workers’ compensation matters. It also provides advice to the Department of Human Resources, the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency and other departments on developing workers’ compensation issues and recent legislative changes in the law.
