Herrera statement on Embarcadero Navigation Center decision

Judge rules construction on the Navigation Center can continue

City Attorney Dennis Herrera

SAN FRANCISCO (Nov. 25, 2019) — City Attorney Dennis Herrera released the following statement today after a judge blocked efforts to stop construction on the Embarcadero Navigation Center:

“For months, opponents of providing needed shelter and services to homeless San Franciscans have tried to stop this project. They haven’t succeeded and now the Court has confirmed that their claims are without merit. Our focus is on ensuring that this work can continue so we can get more people off the street and back on their feet. We’ve said from the beginning that this project has undergone all of the required review and all appropriate laws were followed. We’re pleased that the Court agrees. We’re looking forward to giving people a roof over their heads and a shot at a better life.”

The case is Safe Embarcadero for All v. California State Lands Commission and City and County of San Francisco, San Francisco Superior Court Case No. CPF-19-516841, filed July 10, 2019. More information can be found on the City Attorney’s website: www.sfcityattorney.org
